Timotheus Vermeulen
Timotheus Vermeulen is assistant professor in Cultural Theory at the Radboud University Nijmegen, where he also co-directs the Centre for New Aesthetics. He is one of the founding editors of the academic arts and culture webzine Notes on Metamodernism. Vermeulen is joint editor of a forthcoming collection on metamodernism, and author of two books on suburban cultures. He frequently writes on contemporary aesthetics, art, film and television for various journals and magazines, amongst others The Journal of Aesthetics and Culture, Screen, Monu, E-Flux, Frieze, Texte Zur Kunst and MetropolisM. He also acts as curatorial advisor, most recently for the Notes on Metamodernism shows at the Moscow Biennial and the MAD Museum New York, and the Discussing Metamodernism exhibition at Galerie Tanja Wagner, Berlin.
From March to July 2016, Timotheus Vermeulen is a visiting professor at the AKK, teaching a master studio on metamodernism.
